Iowa’s U.S. Congressional delegation stood by and looked the other way – all of them – instead of fulfilling their oath and obligations as representatives for Iowa and the citizens of this state.

This Was Always the Plan

As the separation of powers guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution have been eroded, Iowa’s U.S. Congressional delegation has stood by and looked the other way – all of them – instead of fulfilling their oath and obligations as representatives for Iowa and the citizens of this state to protect the U.S. Constitution.

What is happening now in Iowa’s congressional delegation is not just personal loyalty to Trump. It is structural obedience to a plan that has been publicly available since mid-2024 – Project 2025 – which explicitly calls for dismantling the separation of powers that has protected Americans since 1789.

Since 2024, legal scholars, former Republican officials, and national security experts warned that Project 2025 includes a deliberate strategy to weaken Congress, undermine the courts, replace neutral civil servants with political loyalists, and centralize governing power in the President alone.

This is the opposite of what the Founders designed. James Madison wrote that power must be divided so that “Ambition must be made to counteract ambition” (Federalist No. 51). This means that no single leader should ever rule unchecked.

Project 2025 rejects that core principle.

Iowa’s Delegation Plays a Key Role

Iowa’s members of Congress are simply being loyal to Trump, and not Iowans or other American citizens, when they do not challenge executive overreach. Or defend the independence of the courts and DOJ. When they support blanket immunity for the President and attack federal agencies, inspectors general, and career civil servants.

They are helping to carry out the Project 2025 strategy of removing restraints on the presidency by normalizing obedience and eliminating oversight. This isn’t accidental. It is how authoritarian systems take root.

This way, they don’t need tanks in the street – they just need a U.S. Congress that does not say “No.”

This Is Not About Conservative vs. Liberal

Many conservatives do not support this shift, including Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney, former Judge Michael Luttig, and multiple Federalist Society legal scholars. Why not? They understand something fundamental: that without separation of powers, rights exist only at the pleasure of whoever holds power. Because if power can be taken, so can your rights.

That is not Republican. That is not Democrat. That is authoritarianism.

Why Iowa Should Pay Attention

Iowa has always valued local control, fair dealing, modesty in power, accountability, and the basic premise that “No one is above the law.”

But Project 2025 requires the opposite: centralization of authority, loyalty over law, and fear over civic duty. That is why Iowa’s current delegation is being pressured to stay silent, stay in line, and treat dissent as disloyalty.

This is how democracies erode – quietly, through compliance.

The Shift Is Already Visible

The moment Trump claimed presidential immunity for any official act, Iowa’s congressional members did not defend the Constitution’s limits on executive power.

That silence is not accidental. It fits the Project 2025 blueprint by making the president untouchable, oversight appear “unpatriotic,” and loyalty the measure of political survival.

This is how norms die.

Where This Leads (If Unchecked)

What We Have Now What Project 2025 Seeks
Independent courts Courts aligned with executive power
Nonpartisan law enforcement DOJ/FBI used as political weapons
Civil service loyalty to the Constitution Civil service loyalty to the President
Congress that checks the President Congress that obeys the President

This is the point where history books use the word autocracy.

The Iowa plain truth talks

If a president can prosecute opponents, ignore court rulings, override Congress, and replace public servants with loyalists, then no one’s freedom is safe.

This includes farmers, gun owners, teachers, pastors, veterans, and small business owners.

Authoritarian power never stops with the other guy. It eventually comes for everyone.
